Strat-O-Matic 1988 Replay Mets Games 4-6

To compliment Cone's pitching was the Mets offence scoring 10 runs with 15 hits. Greg Jefferies was the star at the plate going 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs, Kevin McReynolds was 3 for 5 with 1 home run and 3 RBIs. Howard Johnson hit his first home run of the season going 2 for 4 and driving in 2 runs.

The Phillies starter Don Carman pitched a complete game and gave up 15 hits, 6 Ks, 0 walks and 8 earned runs for a record of (0-1).

The Phillies only hit of the game was a single in the bottom of the ninth with 1 out by Mitt Thompson.

The Mets Kevin Elser suffered an injury and will miss 15 games.

A tough loss for the Mets and their starter Dwight Gooden. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings and gave up 11 hits, 6 Ks, 2 BBs and 6 Earned Runs for an ERA of 7.36 and a record of (0-1). Randy Meyers threw 1 and 2/3 innings of relief and allowed 1 hit, 0 Ks, 0 BBs and 1 Earned Run for an ERA of 5.40.

Greg Jefferies went 2 for 4 with 1 home run and 2 RBIs. Kevin McReynolds was also 2 for 4 with 1 home run and 3 RBIs.

Shane Rawley went 7 and 1/3 innings for the Phillies giving up 4 hits, 7 Ks, 1 BB and 3 Earned Runs for an ERA of 3.68 and a record of (1-0). Steve Bedrosian pitched 2 and 2/3 innings of relief giving up 1 hit, 1 K, 1 BB and 1 earned run for an ERA of 3.38.
